Now back to my poem!
Today, I woke up and I looked at myself in the mirror.
And as I saw the fully bearded man in the mirror,
I thought - " Where did the child within me go ? "
The child that I once was
Devoid of sorrow and the endless problems of adulthood
A bundle of joy and energy, full of hope.
Is it still there?
Yes, but he's locked up somewhere in there.
It comes out in glimpses
when it is allowed to play.
He yearns for expression,
For he is the source of all creativity and genius.
He is inspiration, itself.
Maybe I should let him loose.
Afterall, my life depends on him
He is the embodiment of the good in me.
The reason I wake up in the morning full of hope.
Do not let that child die!
It laughs when you don't
It cries when you don't
It pats you on the shoulder
and smiles at you when you're cold.
Don't you get it?
That child is your undying human spirit.
Let him loose.
You will feel more
You will laugh louder than anyone
for no reason at all
And perhaps you will hurt more
when the time comes for hurting.
But to be able to feel the full range of human emotions
is not a curse.
To go through many seasons of the human experience
is not a hell of a particular kind.
You will not regret it
That little boy is vulnerable and imperfect,
but he is beautiful.

Becoming an adult is a standard and necessary process through which everyone must go through. I'm not suggesting in the least that you shouldn't grow up. A man-child isn't attractive either. What I am saying is that you should seriously consider rekindling the relationship with your child self. To reignite your human spirit and to live passionately.
You don't have to live like a piece of dead meat roaming on the surface of earth.
"Life can be very beautiful if you allow it to be, but only if you allow it to be."
