What is your story?

What is your story?

In this edition of the journal, I'm going to talk about the language that you use.

The stories that you tell yourself and more importantly a perspective that I bet you never thought about when it comes to using language.

But why should you even care about that?

The answer is simple, but it's one of those things that you never bothered with because it's there in plain sight.

Language structures consciousness and that in turn structures thought. We think in words.

We think about the outside world, ourselves and hell we even think about thinking in the form of words.

Our thoughts structure perception and perception is reality.

We don't look at the world through an objective lens, it's impossible to do so. We look at the world through our own perception.

A perception formed through the stories that we tell ourselves, the limited information we possess, biases we hold and the heuristics we use.

So in short, it is really important to ask the right questions, inspect the stories we tell ourselves and everyone else.

Why do you think about yourself the way you do?

Is it based on truth?

What even is fear?

Why should I even be fearful?

and of what exactly?

The reason i'm writing about this is because a lot of times we limit ourselves through our own perception.

If you ask the right questions whenever you're experiencing fear or a self imposed limitation, you'll get to the root cause.

Once you gain awareness on what exactly is stopping you, you can get to the root cause and actually solve the problem.

So I want you to listen to your stories of why you can't do what you wanna do and brutally criticise it.

The magic is that once you criticise it, you also find solutions to the same problems almost instantly. Those solutions might not be convenient and easy. But that's precisely why you would want to shelter yourself from it.

A lot of times we're not even asking the right questions, all the discoveries happen when you ask the right questions.

For example,

About a 100 years ago, a common accepted notion was that space and time were fixed, absolute and independent of everything else.

And then Einstein showed up and asked - "Wait a minute, what if that's not true? What if it's the opposite?"

He followed his curiosity relentlessly and years later special relativity was born.

That's why I say it's very important to question the preconceived notions accepted by society as truisms.

Should you live the way everyone else lives because that's just the way it's been since the beginning?

Should you accept what they believe to be true as your truth?

Remember, every word that you use or speak is self hypnosis.

Whether you say good things about yourself or bad things. Whether you ask the right questions or the wrong questions.

You get to decide who you wanna be.

And if you're programmable, if you're subject to change. Why not program yourself to be great?

Ask the right questions.

Alright that's it for this week, bye.
