Overstimulation is a Disease!
There's a funny saying...
"Introduce a game to a man, tell him that there are hierarchies in the game and he'll be glued to the game like a Rat to coke"
By showing him that you can level up in the game you activate the same neuro-circuitry in him that has existed since the ape days.
Human beings are obsessed with leveling up and they're supposed to be. But modern society has made sure that you can get the same pleasure for a nickel of your energy and effort.
But it's not the same though, it doesn't mean anything.
Why do kids spend time slaying dragons in video games as opposed to slaying dragons in real life?
Well, first of all, it's easier to do that in the video games. Also, the consequences are softer. If you die in a video game you can start again from the same level. But the same doesn't apply to real life. If you die, that's it.
Becoming great seems to be getting harder and harder for us human beings living in this era. Overstimulation is officially the number 1 problem in our lives. Social media companies have been waging a war on our potential, fighting for our time to see if their app is what people use the most.
What can we do though?
For starters, it's a good idea to acknowledge that social media apps, video games and endless consumerism are distractions. It's fine to indulge in them once in a while. But remember that these are distractions, don't let them hinder you in your purpose.
Because I'm pretty sure you weren't born on this planet to reach level 50 on Assassin's Creed Odyssey and scroll Instagram all day. What kind of an existence is that?
You have a purpose, and if you don't know what your purpose is then your purpose is to find your purpose. But you can't do that if your mind is occupied by consuming endless content.
Overstimulation is a disease.
Take some time to sit in silence and try to rediscover yourself.
When was the last time you did something like that?
It's funny how we're willing to work harder on our video game character than we are on ourselves.
Do you realise how pathetic that is?
Your time on this planet is finite, I hope you realise that. Make it mean something.
Make your existence matter.
Alright that is it for today.
See ya next week!
Bye.
