no no no

no no no

Yo chimps,

Often in life, when you're in pursuit of a goal...

Discipline is not enough.

Discipline is a big component, yes.

But if your competition is also disciplined and hard working, how do you stand above them all?

You can only work so many hours in a day.

This is where sacrifice comes in.

Focus is not about adding more into the equation. It's about reducing everything down to a singular quantity.

It's about saying "No" to everything else in the period that you're supposed to be working.

Let's take me for an example...

When I have to write a blog post...

I only have the laptop open with google docs.

That's it.

No phone, no snacks, no music...

And an empty desk.

When I remove everything that doesn't serve my goal, I have no option but to complete my goal.

So it really is about removing everything else except work.

Also, to go much deeper here...

A lot of people that do end up reaching the top of their domain do take it too far.

That's why a lot of entrepreneurs that are successful end up sacrificing everything except their personal success.

To achieve their grandiose ambitions, they are willing to sacrifice even having a family life.

I mean, if you get up and do nothing but work all day, how could you have time for anything else.

But you don't have to take it to that extreme.

Only sacrifice what is necessary, don't just go around sacrificing everything because you think you need to sacrifice.

In any case, you have to learn to say "No" to things that don't serve you, your ambitions and your future.

Think of it as basic assertiveness training, you have to learn to sacrifice.

To cut cancer at its root is a wise thing to do before it grows out of proportion.

Commitment to something is often reflected in how many things you say "no" to.

So waking up early to work extra hours is not enough...

To get better output out of you, you need to improve the inputs.

So you sacrifice junk food because it makes you sleepy and tired and you replace that with healthy food so that you have more energy.

Now you can work better and you don't feel tired as much.

This is just an example but you get the point.

So chimps...

Say "No" to all that causes cancer to be able to whole heartedly say "Yes" to things that enrich your life.

Alright, that's it for today.

Muah.
