kiss !?!?
Yo Chimps,
If you find yourself making your life increasingly complicated for absolutely no reason...
Adding more things into your day than you know what to do with in the name of productivity...
Overthinking things that, in all honesty, you should not think 2 seconds about...
Then I suggest you to learn the art of KISS.
K - Keep
I - It
S - Stupid
S - Simple
At it's core, KISS is about subtraction.
You must learn to subtract things from life, not compulsively add.
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
Making things more complicated than they need to be does not benefit you in any way.
You do not need to do a million different things and try everything under the sun.
You just need to do the 1-2 things that matter the most.
You must always the remember the Pareto principle
80% of your results come from 20% of your actions.
Find the 1-2 things that move the needle towards your goal.
Focus only on the needle moving tasks.
You will make it significantly simpler and also achieve what you want to achieve.
Smart people are the worst at this...
They have a habit of seeing too far into the future.
Which makes them think too much about what they want to do, resulting in analysis paralysis.
Forever stuck in a limbo of inaction, which only makes them feel more miserable because they see people dumber than them achieve the things that they wanted to achieve.
For example...
Most kids are taught how to swim by being thrown into the pool without their permission... Or at least that's how I was taught.
They are thrown into the pool without permission because the instructor knows that if kids are allowed some time to think about it they will convince themselves to not do it.
The smarter the kid, more convincing his reason becomes.
That's why you always see some kids, when left on their own, just look at the pool for an hour trying to come up with ways to learn how to swim without actually diving into the water.
Meanwhile, the dumb kids are out there already trying somersaults into the pool without a care in the world for what they are going to do once they are in the water.
In the next hour or so, the dumb kids have already figured out how to swim through pure trial and error.
Meanwhile, the smart kids are still outside looking at the pool calculating all the possible scenarios where they could die .
Some of them may even have dipped their toe in the pool and convinced themselves that was an attempt.
"Oh you gotta take it slowly, one step at a time. Tomorrow I'll try putting my whole leg in"
Day 2 comes and by now the dumb kids are already free styling in the water.
For better or worse, these kids applied the principle of KISS
They kept it stupid simple.
If you want to learn how to swim, the most important thing to do is to just throw yourself into the water.
Taking a 20 minute shower to ready yourself for the pool does not matter.
Stretching your body and trying 20 different yogic positions to warm up your body for swimming does not matter.
Dipping your toe to test if the water is warm enough to jump in does not matter.
Wearing a cap and swimming goggles does not matter.
All that matters is that you jump in the water.
And then new problems arise which your smart ass could not have predicted anyway.
But the good thing is...
You will solve those problems on the go as they arise.
(Or you might just die on the spot, in which case, you have no problems left to solve anyway.)
You will start to flap your arms and legs and eventually get the hang of it.
This is how you beat crippling analysis paralysis.
So as a general rule of thumb in life...
When in doubt, Keep It Stupid Simple.
Just throw yourself into the water.
You'll either figure out how to swim or die.
Alright that's it.
Peace out.
