Beauty

What is beauty?

Beauty

Have you ever seen something that's so beautiful that it terrified you?

Something that you're in awe of, but strangely it also terrifies you, simply because you can't stand how beautiful it is, that how could something this beautiful even exist?

But to be able to talk about it, we must first talk about what beauty even is.

The answer isn't as simple. We could give a rough description of it. The aggregate of qualities such as symmetry, aesthetically pleasing, Perfect blend of colours or even something that's rather minimalistic than sophisticated.

But none of it explains why our hairs stand up when we see something that's truly beautiful, it’s a terror response. It may very well be a feature that is shared by all that are sensitive to aesthetics or maybe it's something that everyone can feel to an extent.

People that understand the difference between women that are hot and women that are beautiful know this very well. When you find someone hot, it's plain old sexual attraction - nothing more to it. But when you find someone beautiful, it's different. There's much more to it than just attraction.

Here's the thing, when something is beautiful, it is right down to its core. Beauty is so intrinsically woven into its being that you almost can't imagine something beautiful without associating beauty with it. Once you're struck by it, it's almost impossible to not notice its allure and you’re bound by a spell.

And that is exactly what true beauty is, it's captivating.

People in the renaissance period understood the importance of beauty and reoriented the cities, the art and even themselves so that life itself was beautiful. Partly the reason why everyone wants to visit Europe and rightfully so. We, humans, are wired to seek beauty and we love things that are beautiful.

Even people that didn't have an educated eye for beauty started crying when they watched Messi finally win the world cup and there aren't many things that can make even grown hardened men cry tears of joy. It defies all reason.

That's why we chase experiences, listen to music, look at art, read poetry, visit museums or do something as simple as look at dogs wagging their tails when they are excited.

It's exactly like our beloved Dostoevsky said, "Beauty will save the world".

We seek beauty everywhere but within. If only we could do that more often.

- “If only we could see ourselves from our lovers’ eyes would we realise just how beautiful we are.”

P.S. - The world cup final was beautiful and so was Messi.
